'The severest punishment on the Day of Qiyaamah will for the picture makers.' It will be said to them,' Give life to what you have created.'

It is Haraam to take pictures or make pictures, through any medium, of animate objects, which include pictures of all living objects.

The same ruling applies to television. It is not permissible to view television.

In another narration it is mentioned that Sa‘id ibn Abi l-Hasan said: I was with ibn ‘Abbas when a man came to him and said,“O Ibn ‘Abbas! Indeed I am a man whose livelihood is from my manual profession and I make these pictures.” Ibn ‘Abbas said, “I will tell you only what I heard from Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and grant him peace). I heard him say, ‘Whoever makes a picture, Allah will punish him until he breathes spirit into it, and he will never be one who breathes spirit into it.’” Thereupon, the man heaved a sigh and his face turned pale. [Ibn ‘Abbas] said, “Woe to you! If you insist on making [pictures, I advise you] to [make a picture] of this trees and all inanimate objects.”

The hadeeth says that there are some activities due to which the angels run away. One is when there are pictures of animate objects being displayed.

Those who say that pictures are permissible contend that some pictures are pixels or dots and not actual pictures. Instead of worrying about what some Ulama and Jamiats say; ask yourself, is this a picture or not?

May Allah save us from the evil of television and picture making. Ameen
