A FITTING RESPONSE TO FAROUK AHMAD ON HIS OPINIONS ON COVID FEAR, SOCIAL DISTANCING AND MUSAAJID

A FITTING RESPONSE TO FAROUK AHMAD ON HIS OPINIONS ON COVID FEAR, SOCIAL DISTANCING AND MUSAAJID

May Allah Ta'ala increase you in your fervour and concern for the Muslims Farouk Bhai.

However i am extremely disappointed with your article above which lacks depth, maturity, study, facts, and understanding.

You are welcome to your opinion, however that opinion is in stark contrast to reality.

Allow me to unpackage it for u in point form.

*1.* You say that we are advised by experts to social distance.

Lets discuss this.

How far should we social distance ?

1.5 metres ?

2.5 metres ?

10 metres plus ?

What, 10 metres ??

Yes u heard right, that is the latest debate raging amongst our so called experts, doctors and scientists , whose word u have taken as revelation and based your article on that flimsy premise ..

Take a look at this article if u donot believe me 👇

https://neurosciencenews.com/coronavirus-breathing-16619/

Furthermore, since you are so enamoured with social distancing as 'scientifically fundamental' , im sure you are aware that social distancing was also recommended for N1H1, MERS, Ebola, TB, etc.

Maf, my limited memory fails me, but i cannot recall you advocating social distancing for all that, 'based on it been scientifically fundamental'... ?

Lets keep it short.

We all know u as a good man, and a true lover (And Allah is the Best Judge) of Muhammad SAW and the Noble Sahaabah.

I personally would have thought that you would give preference to what He and his companions did (NO SOCIAL DISTANCING IN SALAAH), when there was sickness in Madinah, Plague of Amwaas etc ...

(Btw, i am sure you are aware that covid is a virus, not a plague and the ramnifications of that )

However if u choose the ever changing, probable, half proven, flimsy, scientific findings over the Sunnah of our beloved Habeeb Mustapha صلي الله عليه وسلم , then i respectfully differ with you, and continue to make Dua that Allah imbues us both with His Love and Mercy.

*NOTE* : As a titbit of note, which might spark your interest, here in South Africa, we have majority of the Masaajid in WC (especially Cape Town) totally closed, one step more then your suggestion of 'enforcing' social distancing in Salaah...

Yet, has it brought reprieve to the people of Cape Town ?

Although our peak might still be peaking (i know, i know, ul enjoy that English), yet with a population 1/3 that of Gauteng, they still have (as at 06/07/2020) most confirmed cases, most deaths, Muslim and Non Muslim....💭

Anyways.

*2.* You play the blame game, blame the Ulema and then ask the Ulema not to play the blame game ?

Thats not a tongue twister, thats a sad fact.

*3.* You state the Ulema lack unity..

Thats a topic on its own, but suffice with 2 simple eye openers...

*A.* If the premise/ foundation / basis of the disunity is the differing , changing, confusing guidelines of the different medical experts , then who should be blamed for the disunity ?

*B.* Those Ulema who are , Alhamdulillah performing Salaah as normal, have not done anything to create the disunity.

If u want to drop it by someones doorstep, be bold enough to say it to those Ulema who have differed and chosen the Kung-Fu style Salaah....

*4.* I am in agreement with you that the covid 19 is real.

Is it serious ?

Thats a relative question, to the host of other serious issues we face as well as your definition of seriousness...

I have spoken too much on this topic already, and im sure you are aware of my viewpoint and the facts to substantiate this.

Lets not drag this short article..

*5.* I have to disagree with you in our local Lenasia setup, (and your message was to the Ulema and Committees of Lenasia), with regards to the sanitation of the Masaajid.

Our cleaners, Muazzins, helpers , volunteers and sometimes even some committee members themselves do a wonderful job of cleaning our Masaajid daily.

May Allah Ta'ala reward them abundantly, so let us not downplay their efforts or unintentionally slight them.

If you feel our carpets are still unhygienic, please feel free to consistently and constantly express your opinion about fungus and bloody feet, after covid 19 disappears..

According to you, we should then permanently carry our own Musallahs ?

Ok, tooo long.... im now signing off, but i ask u in the interest of fairness, and true brotherhood, to re-examine your shallow (emotional yet baseless) article and if Allah puts it in your heart to delete and / or apologise, then definitely He will elevate you for your honesty, integrity, humility and good heart.

May Allah grant all the sick Shifa, marhoomeen forgiveness, and unite us all in Paradise.

Yours sincerely.

Bilaal.
