“Islam began Ghareeb (as something strange) and will revert to being (Ghareeb) strange as it began, so give glad tidings to the (Ghurabaa) strangers (who follow it truly).”
Islam began as something strange, when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called people to Islam, but no one responded except a few here and there. At that time it was something strange because its people were like strangers amongst others and they were few in number and weak, in contrast to the great numbers and strength of their enemies who persecuted the Muslims.
There are many Muslims today but those who adhere strictly to the Sharia and follow the Sunnat Lifestyle a few. These are the Ghurabaa.
This shows that supporting true Islam and following its commands will require being patient in bearing the difficulties of being a stranger, as was the case in the beginning, as Ghareeb means to be being far from one's homeland (a total stranger)
We make Dua that we can be amongst these Ghurabaa and must try and strive to be in this most noble group who received glad tidings of Jannat.
