UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ISLAM AND SHISM
Every Muslims commits sins and crimes but all Muslims know and understand that they are sinning. Let us take Salaat or alcohol as examples. A Muslim may deliberately miss Salaat regularly or consume alcohol regularly. These are sins committed by a Muslim and one will not leave the fold of Islam on account of sin. If such was the case then there would be few, if any, Muslims on the planet. But if a Muslim were to subscribe to the idea that Salaat is not compulsory and is some act of worship that must be done if you choose to or that alcohol is not prohibited and it is just something we are advised to abstain from, then such a person will not be a Muslim any longer for as long as they subscribe to these ideologies.
There are also many factions amongst Muslims and each believes that they are right which in turn means others are wrong. Fact is there is only one right group and we will all find out if we were on the truth or Haq when we meet our creator. Calling for unity amongst various factions in itself shows that disunity exists and that tolerance is asked for, and not acceptance, when it comes to methodology and ideology. But at the end all Muslims subscribe to the basic tenets of Islamic faith and anyone who adds or subtracts from the basic tenets are NOT MUSLIM.
Shism at base level subscribes to the BELIEF that there are others humans that are infallible, sinless and divinely appointed apart from the prophets and messengers (peace be upon them). Muslims, or Ahlus Sunna, as is the commonly used term, subscribe to the BELIEF that these qualities belong to Prophets and messengers of Allah (Nabis and Rasuls) (Peace be upon them) only, and that no other human can possess these qualities. This is an article of faith and if one does not subscribe to it, one is not a Muslim. It’s quite simple actually.
As Shias believe that their Imams have the qualities of the Ambiayaa Alay Salaam and that these Imams are senior to the Ambiyaa or Prophets, they form a new religion (Shism) and are no longer Muslim. This is a basic understanding of the main core belief of Shism that makes it different from Islam. There are other factors but not for this discussion because even if there were no other factors this will not change the fact mentioned in this discussion i.e. Shism is a different religion to Islam.
It is important that Muslims understand the above as many regard Shism to be a sect or faction within Islam. This is furthest from the truth. Shias are free to practice their religion and we do not stand in their way. We believe that there is no compulsion in religion and we say to other religions’, “you to your religion and us to ours”. We are not shy about this and we do not judge anyone. This is the Haq in this matter.
